Greetings and Welcome to Coeur d’Ennui!

Coeur d’Ennui is a local chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA); a group dedicated to researching and recreating the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. We have a variety of activities for newcomers to become involved with right away, from armored combat to clothing and cooking to camping. The list is nearly endless, so you are sure to find something which interests you in some way.

Newcomer Information:

  • SCA Newcomer’s Portal – A Society website designed to provide newcomers with information on many of the activities found withing the SCA.
  • Forward Into the Past – A great reference for any newcomer!
An older resource, but still has great basic tips, including getting started, what to wear, how to behave, choosing names, developing personas, and much more! (PDF)
  • Modar University – A treasure trove of SCA-related Information!
This website is run by Baron Modar Neznanich, a member based out of the Barony of Forgotten Sea (Kansas City Area). There is a page for just about any topic you are looking for; check out his Newcomers section first!

We have a variety of resources to help out all of our members, including newcomers! Please feel free to contact us at or on Facebook. Our meetings are a great place to get first-hand accounts of the different activities available in the SCA, so we hope to see you at a meeting sometime.
